The WIA Grants Scheme which was announced at ths years AGM is now open for applications.

Date : 14 / 09 / 2025
Author : Peter Clee - VK8ZZ

Applications are now open for the WIA Affiliated Clubs Grants Scheme.

Details of the WIA Grants Program, originally announced at the AGM in May 2025, were released at the WIA Affiliated Clubs forum today.

Applications are now open for the WIA Grants Program

PURPOSE

The Purpose of the Scheme is to promote and advance amateur radio, the Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA) and its Affiliated Clubs by supporting useful projects undertaken or to be undertaken by Affiliated Clubs. For a project to receive a Grant under these Rules it must be considered by the Grants Committee and the Board to be sufficiently useful for either amateur radio, the Affiliated Club or the WIA to justify the making of a Grant.

CATEGORIES

Funding up to $5000 each is available for applications to the Grant Scheme in the following two categories:

Applications for new hardware to implement or upgrade existing or new Repeater or Beacon sites or Club services; Grants of up to $250 will be given positive consideration with special consideration for applications up to $500

OR

Applications to support or promote education or training of prospective or new amateur operators or to upgrade existing amateur licensees. This Grant of $5000 is made available to WIA Affiliated Clubs from a bequest by Ken Asplin VK3DQW (sk). Applications for grants up to $250 each will be considered.

The Wireless Institute of Australia will consider grant applications from WIA Affiliated Clubs who meet the qualifications required for ongoing affiliation, and on such terms and conditions as it sees fit.

Applications for Grants will be reviewed by a Grants Committee and evaluated according to the following criteria;

3. Where the applicant is a non-‐affiliated Club, or is unable to meet the Affiliation membership requirements, the grant shall not be considered.

4. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

5. The recipient must agree to acknowledge the provision of the grant and participate in any promotional activity associated with the activity, project or initiative.

6. The recipient must provide proof of expenditure to the satisfaction of the WIA Board prior to the grant being paid. The WIA may stagger payments when appropriate.

7. Upon determining to recommend a Grant application, the Grants Committee shall submit its recommendation to the WIA Board for approval.

8. If approved the Grants Committee may be delegated to advise the applicants of the outcome.

9. Applications should be on the designated form and sent by email to the WIA secretary at the email address published on the WIA web site.
