Hello friends,
This week's Shortwave Radiogram is our "Holiday Spectacular" -- fifteen MFSK64 images showing holiday lights and decorations in cities across North America.
Because holiday activities will keep most of us busier than usual, this program 430 will be repeated the following week. By the time of the last transmission January 1, 2026, you will probably be tired of looking at MFSK64 images of holiday lights.Â
News from here at the house: With our new roof shingles finally installed, the antenna installers came today to restore my 10/6 M vertical and 10/6 fan dipole antennas to the top of the house. You might remember that my 160-meter "inverted U" antenna also came down because the pine tree that provided its apex was removed. The antenna installers attached the wire to the mast holding up the vertical antenna, thus forming the new apex. The rest of the 150 feet of wire was tossed to the ground, where it will eventually find its way up one of our remaining trees.
And in news from my shack, my Yaesu FT-991A has failed again, after having been sent to Yaesu twice for warranty repair. It's always the same problem: What sounds like rapid-fire arcing from within the transceiver, and no audio other than static from the arcing. My FT-991A is a lemon, and I will try to convince Yaesu to replace it. It's a good shack-in-a-box when it works. (Fortunately my old Yaesu FT-897D still works as a backup, although the display is slowly failing.)
Anyway, Merry Christmas, happy holidays, best wishes for the new year! And thanks for tuning in and reporting your results. Â
