COMMENT: Solar activity has been eruptive during the past 24 hours,
featuring four C flares, mainly from the new NOAA AR 11596 near the
eastern limb. C-level flares are expected within the next 48 hours, with
a chance for an M flare, especially from AR 11596.
The solar wind velocity measured at the ACE spacecraft slowly decreased
from around 600 km/s to around 500 km/s, with the IMF below 5nT.
Geomagnetic activity was at quiet levels (K Dourbes between 1 and 3;
NOAA Kp between 0 and 2) during the past 24 hours. Quiet (K Dourbes K <
4) geomagnetic activity is expected for October 19, 20 and 21.
