COMMENT: Four sunspot groups are reported on the Sun, but none of them
looks very active in terms of flares. Solar flaring activity will
probably remain below the C-level, although an isolated C-class flare is
not excluded. The Earth is currently inside a slow (around 340 km/s)
solar wind flow with a bit elevated (around 8 nT) interplanetary
magnetic field magnitude. We expect quiet geomagnetic conditions in the
coming hours due to low solar wind speed. A small low-latitude coronal
hole in the southern hemisphere reached the solar central meridian. The
fast flow emanating from it may arrive at the Earth on October 9,
interacting with the ICME corresponding to the halo CME observed on the
Sun on October 5. A weak geomagnetic disturbance (up to K = 5) will be
possible.
TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 028, BASED ON 09 STATIONS.
