COMMENT: NOAA ARs 1540 and especially 1542 (no Catania numbers yet)
continue to produce solar flaring activity at the C-level. More C-class

flares are expected from these two sunspot groups, probably with an
isolated M-class flare. Another eruption of the long filament near the

solar central meridian in the southern hemisphere was detected early on

August 8. It was again accompanied by a weak, slow and narrow CME that

is not expected to be geoeffective. Late on August 7 the Earth entered

an interplanetary disturbance with slightly elevated interplanetary
magnetic field (IMF) magnitude (around 7-8 nT). The disturbance was most

probably associated with the halo CME detected on the Sun on August 4.

Both Dourbes and NOAA reported one interval of K = 4, and IZMIRAN
reported one interval of minor storm conditions (K = 5). Currently the

solar wind speed is around 400 km/s and the IMF magnitude is around 6
nT. Quiet to unsettled geomagnetic conditions are expected.

TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 080, BASED ON 09 STATIONS.
