COMMENT: Solar activity has been at eruptive levels during the past 24
hours, featuring three low C flares from NOAA AR 11539, 11532 and 11540.
C-level flares are possible within the next 48 hours, with a slight
chance for an M flare.
LASCO and COR2 observed a CME associated with the long duration C3.5
flare which began at 11:04 UT and ended at 16:49 UT on August 4, with an
estimated speed of 930 km/s. This CME is expected to cause a minor
geomagnetic storm in the first half of August 8. Quiet geomagnetic
levels (K Dourbes between 0 and 3; NOAA Kp between 1 and 3) were
registered within the past 24 hours. The geomagnetic field is expected
to remain quiet on August 5, 6 and 7.
