Joint USAF/NOAA Report of Solar and Geophysical Activity
SDF Number 147 Issued at 2200Z on 26 May 2008
IA. Analysis of Solar Active Regions and Activity from 25/2100Z
to 26/2100Z: Solar activity was at very low levels. New Region 997
(S08W01) was numbered today. Region 997 is an Axx group in an alpha
magnetic configuration and has two spots that were seen in
white-light imagery.
IB. Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to remain
at very low levels.
IIA. Geophysical Activity Summary 25/2100Z to 26/2100Z:
The geomagnetic field was at predominately quiet levels. The greater
than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit reached high levels
again today.
IIB. Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is
expected to be at mostly quiet levels for days one and two (27 and
28 May). Activity is expected to increase to quiet to unsettled
levels with a chance for isolated active conditions on day three (29
May), due to a coronal hole high speed stream rotating into a
geoeffective position.
III. Event Probabilities 27 May-29 May
Class M 01/01/01
Class X 01/01/01
