COMMENT: Solar activity is expected to remain active during the next 48

hours, with risks of M class flares from NOAA AR 1402. The proton event

linked to the M8.3 flare of Jan. 23 is still in progress for protons at

energies above 10 MeV, and marginally in progress for the > 50 MeV
protons. Geomagnetic activity is expected to reach minor storm levels by

the end of Jan. 24, due to the arrival of the halo CME of Jan. 23.
Current conditions as measured by ACE are quiet.
