COMMENT: Eleven sunspot groups are reported by Catania today. The
active region with the strongest flaring activity is currently Catania

sunspot group 72 (NOAA AR 1295). It produced a C9.9 flare peaking at
20:54 UT yesterday. The flare was accompanied by coronal dimmings and a

post-eruptive arcade, indicating the eruption of a CME (not detected by

SOHO/LASCO due to a data gap). Catania sunspot group 72 (NOAA AR 1295)

is expected to produce more C-class flares with a good chance for an
M-flare. Due to the active region position at the north-east solar limb,

possible eruptions are not expected to be geoeffective. The Earth is
currently inside a fast (around 580 km/s) solar wind flow with average

(around 5 nT) interplanetary magnetic field magnitude. Quiet geomagnetic

conditions are expected, possibly with isolated intervals of active
conditions.

TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 096, BASED ON 15 STATIONS.
