COMMENT: The active region that emerged on July 16th was numbered by
NOAA as AR 1257 and currently has a Beta magnetic configuration, It
produce a B7.9 flare yesterday evening. AR 1254 (Cat 33, also beta)
produced a C1 flare this morning at 10h28. More C-flares are possible in

the coming hours.
A filament eruption was observed in SDO/AIA 304 images at 23h58 on July

17th. Due to a gap in the data, it is first seen in SOHO/LASCO images at

03h36. As the eruption occurred on the east limb, we expect no influence

of this CME. The same LASCO image showed another CME on the west side of

the sun. From STEREO data we conclude it occurred on the other side of

the sun.

A high speed coronal wind stream originating from a small coronal hole

has arrived at earth a bit sooner than expected. The solar wind
parameters measured by ACE show a jump around 03h00 UT today. Currently

the wind speed is still moderate (~460 km/s). Unsettled to active
conditions are possible today and tomorrow. On July 20th we expect the

arrival of another wind stream, originating from the larger coronal hole

on the center of the solar disk..

TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 077, BASED ON 11 STATIONS.
