COMMENT: Only a few small and simple active regions are present on the
Sun. Solar activity should thus remain low. Following the minor
geomagnetic storm (Kp=5) that lasted from Feb.4 19:00 to Feb.5 1:00UT,
the geomagnetic activity declined to unsettled levels, which may persist
for the next 12 hours. As the solar wind disturbance is now decaying,
the geomagnetic activity will preogressively return to quiet levels on
day 2 of the forecast period (Feb.6). This moderate storm was apparently
associated with the combination of a pre-existing fast solar wind stream
(associated with a coronal hole) and a slow CME that left the Sun on
Jan.30.
