- Rocky Creek operations for VE Remembrance Day
Operation of ex military transceivers on 3590kHz and 7070kHz will be happening
at the VE Remembrance Day event being held thiat the VE Remembrance Day event being held this Sunday August 11 at the Rocky Creek
War Memorial Park, near Tolga Far North Queensland. Operators Nick/VK4YT and Barrie/VK4ALK
will be operating the equipment they have lovingly restored, in memory of those who
have fallen.
Operating modes will be CW and AM and it is hoped that Nick and Barrie are kept busy
during the day operating in front of the large crowd expected to turn out for this
historic event.

- Clairview Gathering
The Clairview Gathering is a yearly event where Radio Amateurs meet
at a spot on the coast between Rockhampton and Mackay to relax, talk
radio, re-establish acquaintances and participate in the world renown
Saturday Night Mega-Auction. There might even be Saturday Night Mega-Auction. There might even be some fox-hunting and
there will definitely be RAFFLES ! There is a rumour going about that
a large contingent of Nutty Campers from the south will be on site.
The Gathering is one of the main revenue raisers for the
Rockhampton and District Amateur Radio Club Inc and
Mackay Amateur Radio Association.
It happens in 2014 during the first weeken to chill out completely in one of the most relaxing
and laid back venues in the cosmos arrive earlier and stay later.
The Clairview Gathering is so popular that on-site accommodation is
close to being booked out already, so if you want to go you will have to be
very quick. Otherwise there are nice camp, caravan or motor-home sites available too.

Scribe Flying Finish times onto competitor time cards and relay safety, timing and

the Cardwell or Kennedy State Forest. Primary comms VHF and UHF-CB.
Some time between competitor runs to play with HF amongst tall trees.
Start arriving on Friday afternoon, be at checkpoints with comm checks
completed by 9-45am Saturdaycompleted by 9-45am Saturday, say hi to the 00 car from 10-30am and competition

The 21st Bi-ennial North Queensland Amateur Radio Convention will be happening
in Charters Towers from Thursday 3rd to Monday 7th October 2013, with
primary venue and events happening at the Charters Towers Golf Club
from afternoon Friday 4th to Sunday afternoon 6th October.
Displays, Talks, Awards, Raffles, Prizes, a home brew afternoon, some golfing combined
with ARDF, the Monster Auction and some serious socialising will all be a part of the
convention proceedings.
There are some school reunions happening at the same time and motel and cabin
accommodation is scarce, but can be had if you ring around or head online.

WICEN Queensland holds a net every Sunday on 7075kHz from 8-30am (2230UTC)
The net calls in regular stations and then invites new stations to call in.
If conditions are poor on 7MHz, net control might move to around 3600kHz
depending on how pliable the net operators are.
Mix it with other WICEN ops and call in on the net !!
