If you are in the vicinity of the Townsville Region this Saturday June 1st
then get down to theTARCinc Foxhunt at Apex Park Kelso. The hounds, spectators
and support crews will be assembling at 1pm eager to see where the Fox-Master
Tony/VK4TJS has hidden them.
There will be activities for all family members to participate in during the
Foxhunt and you can access Apex Park by turning off Riverway Drive opposite
the Kelso Medical Centre.

The Management Meeting of the Townsville Amateur Radio Club
Inc happens this Tuesday 4th of June from 7-30pm at the Club Rooms
perched atop the SES HQ Green Street West End.
Make sure you bring along something for the Show and Tell session.

Firstly - the horsie ride people have had to call off all endurance rides
for the rest of the year, due to not enough volunteers available to mark tracks
and help out with ride events.
However there are a number of events coming up that need your support ...
Sun 16 June - TOWSA Strand Swim
A qualifying event for the Maggie Island to Townsville Swim happening in July.
A 1km, 2.5km and 5km course from Strand Jetty to The Breakwater.
Come along with your handheld radio and a supply of batteries for 5 hours of
operating portable at the award winning Strand precinct.
7am start at the Picnic Bay SLSC near Strand Park with swimming getting underway from 8am.
The event should be completed by 1pm.
Assignment of observation positions will be done on the day with one lucky person
getting the famous and coveted C-Bar obs post.
Portable gear, sunsafe clothing and a personal supply of sunscreen and water a must.

Sat 22 and Sun 23 June - Kennedy Region Scouts Nighthawk activity
Based at Robertson Park near the entrance to Pallarenda, along with 6 checkpoints
situated along the Pallarenda Road and in the Town Common.
Your chance to make a real difference and show the youth of today how useful
Amateur Radio can be. Teams tracking and a chance to set up portable at a spot
you would not normally go to. Arrive at Nighthawk HQ around 3pm on Saturday,
then go to your checkpoint for a night of easy operating in the field.

- North Queensland Amateur Radio Convention
The 21st Bi-ennial North Queensland Amateur Radio Convention will be happening
in Charters Towers from Thursday 3rd to Monday 7th October 2013, with
primary venue and events happening at the Charters Towers Golf Club
from afternoon Friday 4th to Sunday afternoon 6th October.
Displays, Talks, Awards, Raffles, Prizes, a home brew afternoon, some golfing combined
with ARDF, the Monster Auction and some serious socialising will all be a part of the
convention proceedings.
There are some school reunions happening at the same time and motel and cabin
accommodation is scarce, but can be had if you ring around or head online.

WICEN Queensland holds a net every Sunday on 7075kHz from 8-30am (2230UTC)
The net calls in regular stations and then invites new stations to call in.
If conditions are poor on 7MHz, net control might move to around 3600kHz
depending on how pliable the net operators are.
Mix it with other WICEN ops and call in on the net !!
Try also the pre-WICEN net on 20metres
