News from the RD Contest Manager
- 2012 Remembrance Day Contest Results and Report
Alan/VK4SN, the WIA RD Contest Manager, has posted to the WIA website
a full 18 page PDF RD report that includes the AR blurb and many
more statistics and soapbox comments.
Alan advises that there is also a PDF file of state winner certificates available
for downloading so you can print off your own certificate if you were lucky enough to come
1st, 2nd, or 3rd in your state/territory/P2 or ZL area.

Alan also adds that all major place getters will be receiving a mailed certificate
from the WIA National Office.

Finally, Alan wishes everyone best 73s and thanks you for your logs and participation.

News from North Queensland

- VK CW Beginners Net Begins
A new net is being established to enable radio amateurs to learn and enjoy

the orignal digital mode - Morse Code !
The VK CW Beginners Net will be happening every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
from 0930UTC on 7190kHz.
The net will work in a similar fashion to the 7130 DX net.
The first time CW contact is daunting, so the plan is to allow people to first
check in on SSB. Even though you check in, it is not necessary for you to
send CW.
You can just listen if you like.
Net Control will ask for check-ins on SSB. Once all stations are checked in on SSB,
Net Control will ask for anyone who wants to make a contact to call.
Once all of those who wish to make a call are listed, net control will go
through the list.
While still using SSB, you can name which station you would like to contact - net control
will then allow you to do so.
You can exchange reports and have a short QSO. Mistakes are no problem, and everyone
on the net will be there to have fun.
Stations are expected to reply at the same speed as the initial station sends.
The organiser of the net, David VK4MDX, started off the new net as net control
from Tuesday 30 October 2012. David is a beginner at CW, but he reckons that,
if he can do it, so can you.
David is keen for others to take a turn in acting as net control.
So, remember, the VK CW Beginners Net, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
from 0930UTC on 7190kHz. Be There !

- theTARCinc Annual General Meeting 2012
The Annual General Meeting of The Townsville Amateur Radio Club will be
happening on Sunday November 25th 2012.
Whoop-de-doo you say - but wait, what is that delicious smell you can
detect from 4 weeks into the future ?
Thats what it is !

and cooked up by the Iron Faraday Cage Chefs. Yummmie !
After the sumptuous pancake feast the nuts and bolts of the
Annual General Meeting will take place.
Where do you go to ?
Area 2 - Rossiter Park Aitkenvale via Kimball Street of course !

AGM Agenda and Proxy Forms published in October and November 2012 Back-scatter.

Please advise attendance numbers no later than Tuesday 20th November Social Meeting
for catering purposes . else you will go hungry and your pancake craving will not
cease !

- Jeckle has your patch needs catered for
John/VK4JKL advises that he has some 2nd hand (but not used) Male N
fittings to suit FSJ4-50B, a 1/2" hardline made by Andrew.
Numerous types include 44ASW, F4NM-C, etc.
These were/are attached to short lengths of patch cable
pre-assembled by Andrew factory, (with shrink sleeve) ranging from 3' to 6'.
John also says that the other end are DIN, not much use for VHFers but good scrap brass.
John can easily remove the tail if not required, or cut the connector off for
cheaper transport. ...$5 each. Cheaper by the Bakers dozen.
