4X - 4X0VK (31 October-1 November), 4X0ZL (7-8 November) and 4X0UK (10-
11 November) are the special callsigns for three field radio opera-
tions commemorating the British and ANZAC forces that fought during
World War I in pre-state Israel. QSL all stations via 4X6ZM.
6O - The 6O3T DXpedition failed to get on the air in September 2024,
with the operators describing that experience as "definitely trau-
matic". Now a new team (Fabrizio IV3JPP, Mauro IV3AZV and Elvira
IV3FSG), with "a renewed awareness of the territory and a stronger
operational strategy", has been active as 6O3T from northern Soma-
lia since 20 October. They have five stations for activity on 160-6
metres FT8 (MSHV), SSB and CW, but so far they have operated almost
exclusively FT8: "we are facing a very high level of local QRM,
with background noise consistently above S9" they say, "which makes
it extremely difficult to properly copy signals and manage an
effective pile-up". None of the various mitigation solutions that
have been tested, including filtering systems, improved grounding
and antenna setup checks, has produced a significant improvement.
"In the coming days, we will continue to test new configurations
and operating strategies, with the goal of returning to CW and SSB
as soon as conditions make it realistically possible". Plans are
for 6O3T to remain active until 3 November.
QSL via Club Log's OQRS (direct and bureau), or direct only to
IV3DSH; full upload to LoTW 12 months after the DXpedition. Book-
         mark https://dxexplorer.net/ for updates.
9L - During the Mediterraneo DX Club's DXpedition to Sierra Leone (30
October-10 November), there will be a separate activity taking
place on Banana Island (AF-037). To avoid any confusion with the
ongoing 9L8MD operations from the mainland, the IOTA activity will
use the callsign 9L9L. From 2 November onwards, teams of two will
take it in turns to stay on the island for three days (two nights)
in a local resort. Look for 9L9L to be QRV on 40-6 metres. QSL via

EUDXF ACTIVITY MONTH ---> Celebrating the 39th anniversary of the European
DX Foundation, a number of special callsigns will be activated between 1 and
30 November: DL39EUDXF (Germany); DU39EUDXF (Philippines); HA39EUDXF (Hun-
gary); OR39EUDXF (Belgium); PA39EUDXF, PB39EUDXF, PC39EUDXF, PD39EUDXF,

VI39EUDXF (Australia); YL39EUDXF (Latvia). QSL via operators' instructions.
An award will be available for QSOs made with these and possibly other spe-
cial callsigns; information will be available on https://www.eudxf.eu/.

QSL 3G1P & AT2AH ---> The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has moved from a
full, national strike to rotating strikes. As a result, uncertainty and in-
stability in the postal service will continue.
Cezar, VE3LYC has arranged for the blank QSL cards to be shipped from Italy
by courier service, and they are scheduled to arrive on 29 October. "I am
currently working on preparing the QSO labels and the envelopes to reply to
the direct QSL requests received once the cards arrive", he says. He plans
to "mail all the direct requests in one batch by driving with them across
the border and send them from the United States. I urge those who postponed
requesting their cards via Club Log's OQRS to do it sooner rather than lat-
er. I will only take one trip to the States, most likely in early November.
Any future mailing will be made through Canada Post".
