Hi Bob.   Appreciate your comments.   The challenge is that other modes of
ham radio, especially repeaters, also include discussions that have
nothing to do with amateur radio.  Users often talk about their personal
agenda, political views, medical problems, etc.   The advantage of packet
radio is that software such as Winpack & Outpost have settings that allow
a user to bypass such discussions or postings, yet still participate
actively in the mode.   In contrast, when voice communication have similar
discussions I have to turn it off.

Hang in there and don't get discouraged.   Rather, keep pachet-ing away by
initiating contacts, sending out relevant info that might be of interest
to yourself and others, and being an example of proper use.   Over here in
the States, ham radio is considered a redundancy to primary mechanisms.  
So you will often see duplicated information, including postings initially
generated by the Internet.  But yes, there has to be discretion and
priorities too.
