Hi Ian G3ZHI .... and the rest reading along ...
What they mean does not cover medals.
UK or Britain was broke after WW2. These wars do cost
money Ian. Someone has to pay someone somewhere to equip
an army etc... and then to supply and transport and such
is things like Lend Lease which saw Britain at the early
stages of the war get the ships from the US...as well
aircraft....and other supplys.
Surely from reading your history books, you can see WW2
was not a good thing for any country's economy.
OK ... so over here too, there has been mention of the 2012
Olympics in London ... and the Queen can not even get some
needed ca$h from Parliament to fix Buckingham Palace...while
they laid it out for the Olympics.
It is obvious that perhaps organizers have found external
funding to this 2012 project...and the Government just
kicks in a few whatevers <Euros> to cover the shortfall?
Don't you just hate these "organizers"...they do end up
getting from US "the taxpayers" more then just a FEW
but a much bigger amount of ca$h, that was seemingly
never forseen < I doubt it>.
