Well maybe as you are limited to packet radio, Warren, that might make
sense to you. I do not have those limits amnd I cannot see the sense in my
spending $1856 on a program and some essential (for me) software just to
keep up with the Joneses (or the Warrens),and then have to run in XP mode
anyway because that is the only way Win7 can deal with it!!!.
I can set your mind at rest regarding SSTV and RTTY, as with Winpack they
won't run on WIN7 except in virtual XP mode. Now why should I pay close to
$2000 (and that is only for essential programs) so that I can get Winpack
in virtual XP mode? Don't answer that. The answer is very clear. I would
have rocks in my head. Just to be "up to date"? Come down to earth man. Mr
Gates wants your money and in about 2 years, maybe less, he will bring out
another program to replace 7 and you will have to start again!!
XCheer up Warren. Work you on 14 SSB, if you have that ability.
BTW I don't care why it runs faster, I just know that it does.
Merry Xmas but I mean that!

Win XP and related 32 bit operating systems. Since mine is 64 bit I'm
running Winpack on the virtual machine on XP so there is a handy work
around.
>"Anyone tried RTTY and SSTV using Win7?"
>Now that would be interesting, frankly I'm curious because without
antennas I'm limited to Telnet and that leaves out anything RF. My answer
however is it all depends on the program software, some of it is quite
old and hasn't been updated so that stuff won't run on anything higher
than 16 bit. I'm sure there is more up to date stuff around and when it
comes to 64 bit, if it's not out there already they're working on it.
