Timeout routines work like this in software:
If "event time" + "timeout period" is greater than 59, deduct 60.
So for an event that happened at 14:42 with a timeout period of
say, 35 minutes, the timeout would occur at 42+35 - 60, which is
minute 17 of the next hour, ie. 15:17. No problem. You make your
program repeatedly call for the time, and timeout occurs when the
minutes reach 17.
But here is the same example with a setting of 60:
42+60 - 60 = 42 !!!
You can see that a simple comparison of the minutes has forced a
timeout in the same minute that the event occurred!!!
Of course, to allow for this situation, it's necessary to read
and compare not only the minutes but the hour as well.
You could try a setting of say, 68 and see whether there's a
timeout after 8 minutes. If not, Roger probably inhibited long
timeouts by rejecting settings that exceed a certain maximum.
It's probably in the docs, but I've never used Winpack.
