It's not quite that simple, Warren. After a day of normal operating
the missing text is back, wild card or no wildcard.
The only way I can get messages in the NORMAL way is to use someone
else's callsign and password. Then I get normal operation with
bulletins. Why?
You think this is a simple matter of me having to make a simple
change. It is not. I can do no more here.
Now look at this bulletin quoted below. It may look OK but the
procedure I adopted to get this down and send a reply was as follows:
(1) Connect with the BBS.
(2) Hit the Bull icon and flag the bulletins I want to download.
(3) Disconnect. (hitting the Bull to get them down achieves a blank
stare from the icon.)
(4) Connect again and the bulletins come down with no other action on
my part. They are entre except for Ray's which again have missing text
(5) Read and then highlight what I want to quote in reply. Hit Control
C to copy.
(6) Hit the create icon and write my reply hitting Control V to paste
the bits I want to quote.
(7) Insert chevrons to indicate that this part is a quote.
(8) Connect again and the bulletin goes off through the BBS.
Now you tell me if that is how you have to operate the system? I can't
get bulletins downloaded and a reply out any other way except by using
a friend's callsign and password. Then everything is normal. Why? What
difference should a callsign make when both are users of the BBS?
Yesterday everything worked normally. Today Ray's bulletin had the
text missing - again. It is on the downward path again.
Have you a solution to that problem which looks as if it has started
on the downward trail again? Missing text first and then a gradual
collapse of my abillity to use the system?
Oh by the way PNL mail comes through in the normal way and I can reply
to it. Only bulletins are affected at this stage.
