That's an "exper mode" prompt, isn't it ?

When I finally managed to connect to your BBS, I got the longer prompt (as
did Pete G6KUI). We were defaulted to "normal user" which gives us a
longer prompt, ie: the whole alphabet. This longer prompt is preferable as
unless somebody deliberately types in those letters in a bulletin, there's
no chance of it tripping-up WinPack.

I think - judging by Bob's messages - he is far from an "expert" so should
revert to "normal" status and define himself a longer BBS Prompt in his
WinPack config page.

My own BBS Prompt setting is: GB7XXX BBS (

Where "XXX" is ESX as I didn't want to cause GM7HUD any problems in case
his setting matches mine ;)

Finally - if you wish to issue me a temporary password for telnet logins, I
will configure my un-used WinPack installation to download some mail and I
will do a few tests. Unfortunately the link via "conventional means" is a
little slow for me to do anything of substance.
