Charlie, The .ini file I have been using has been there for 12 years at
least with NO problem whatsoever. There are no "daft" errors in it you can
rest assured of that.. Just to check that the .ini file was not at fault
Ray sent me his which I pasted in with the appropriate changes to call
sign etc. Then Dave VK2AWZ sent me his .ini file and suggested I try that,
I did and it didn't.

The BBS prompt has been a chevron for the last 12 years and there has been
no problem with that. Why should that bother the program now? It doesn't. I
can connect and I get the messages, from one station there is no text and
that station is the TELNET BBS. End of story.
Also I can assure you that I have got the computer plugged in at the
power socket and what's more it IS switched on. Come on man, I'm not an
idiot!! I have been into ham radio for 54 years and I'm a quick learner.
I have also been into computers since before the Commodores came out and
that is a long time ago.I am not a beginner.

In reply to your "show me"
(1) The BBS prompt is a chevron and has been for at least 12 years.
(2) The BBS prompt is a chevron and has been for at least 12 years.
(3) Ray has sent test messages and they have no text except for an
isolated one.

I delete the messages after I have read them unless there is one
particular one that I want to refer to later. Mostly there is not and I
delete. The only files I have kept for a long time were the ZL's jokes.
The prompt has worked for at least 12 years why not now?

The computer must be at fault and that is what I am working on right now.
Cheers and thanks for the advice Charlie.
Bob VK6BE.
