The next line of that message had a lone > chevron character... I'm sure
this occurs more often than in just VK2TV's bulletins but that's worth a
look.

Also, Bob, you say that you've been using a transplanted packet.ini and
that it's been working for years... As you don't think it'll be worth
showing us your entire INI file (in an attempt to weed out any daft
errors), please post the entire contents of the BBS Prompt setting.

Saying "it used to work" isn't really helpful ;) It's like that old
story about a woman phoning up her computer support line and saying that
her PC won't work, the tech guy goes through all the reboot procedures,
gets her to un-plug her modem etc and only at the end does the woman say
that there's been a power-cut.

Points of action:

1) Show us the text for your BBS Prompt in WinPack

2) Show us the actual BBS prompt for VK2TV BBS (I couldn't reach it, sadly)

3) Get VK2TV to send you a test SP with the first line being some text, the
2nd including a > chevron but having some text after it, and the 3rd line
with just a lone > and nothing else. 4th line a bit more text.

Then see what gets cut-off. I still think that you've got the BBS prompt
setting incorrect so it interprets a single > as a protocol command rather
than part of the message.

The only other thing that springs to mind - You mentioned the text that was
chopped suddenly appears in another bulletin: Have you moved the message
files around (ie: the WinPack folders) or done a Prune/Clean-up ?

Let's hope that the BBS Prompt setting is the cause ;)
