Hi Bob, Nice to see you back on Packet.

Quoting from your message.....
}
} FirstIy I use Telnet through the facility given me by Ray VK2TV. (Thank
} you, Ray!).
} I can connect OK and receive and send bulletins and PNLs with no problem
} until Ray himself sends out a bulletin. Ray's bulletin comes to me with
} headers etc. but no text. Then I find Ray's text in the next bulletin
} received from another station, but the text from that station turns up
} somewhere else too. I downloaded the latest version of Winpack 6.8 but
} the same problem still exists. Finally I thought it must be my computer
} that is causing the problem so I downloaded a fresh version of 6.8 onto my
} laptop. Both computers use XP Professional. Here is what happened.
}
} 1. Main computer: Everything works OK except that messages from Ray have
} the
} text missing. Then I find that text in the next bulletin from another
} station. The bulletins from other users come through OK unless they follow
} one
} of Ray's bulletins. The only propblem is when Ray sends out a Bulletin. I
} believe other users do not have the same problem.
}

It could be caused by one of a number of causes.

Using Winpack, make a manual connection to the BBS and just read one of
Ray's bulletins. Do you get the text of the bulletin by doing that ?

Do you use compressed downloading for your auto downloading session?
 If you do then turn it off and try again.

If you get the problem with all the above, then temperally use something
else other than Winpack, Suggest that you try PUTTY, it's free and easy
to use.

Still in problems, then look at your home network. Are you using a wireless
LAN ? If you have security enabled ( which you should have ) then temperally
turn it off and see if that helps - sometimes the security adds/loses certain
characters after certain sequences - I know people with such problems.

Best of luck, hope you get it sorted.

73, Pete G6KUI
