Forgive me gentleman but Vista is NOT XP.

The fact that something works in XP is no indication that it will work with
Vista. There are significant changes "underneath the hood" as our US
cousins would say. On top of that there are (when I last looked) 7
different versions of Vista. Plus bug fixes, security fixes etc. Plus
add-ons plus plus plus...

Now an awfully large number of apps do run fine. Some work but are a bit
different. And quite a few wont work at all, ever. They've made assumptions
about Windows which no longer hold true. With Winpack it's even worse
because it's a 16bit Windows program and really is steam driven technology.
There's nothing wrong with steam driven stuff. Just don't expect it to work
with an OS that has been designed to be different from other versions.

So saying well I have PacketZog and works fine with Win<some__old_version>
is as much use to someone with Vista as a saying to someone " I have a
Hungarian-English phrase book" when they speak Portuguese and want to say
something in Greek.

I know many people just use computers and are unaware how all the little
gears and cogs work inside and where the magic pixie dust should go. They
just want to help a fellow ham, but unless you actually have Vista and
Winpack running, anything you say ranges from anecdotally interesting to
downright confusing. Especially if the person asking the question doesn't
understand where the pixie dust goes either.

Thank you for your time.
