Assuming you have got Winpack configured correctly for Telnet, it
shouldn't make any difference on What Windoze version you are using thats
assuming the BBS supports Telnet?
Telnet users should read the appended notes from G4IDE in the HELP section
of Winpack: view TELNET.TXT
I had never used Telnet with Winpack before, although I had a full
understanding of Winpack with various TNCs and BPQ in kiss mode and at
least 10 years experience of using it. The interface to run Winpack in
Telnet mode is very simple, but reading the write up notes as above
certainly ironed out a few problems, and I was up and running after 30
mins. I did have one problem at the BBS end as the Port number supplied by
the Sysop did not support compression upload/download, but once all these
little quirks were ironed out we were cooking on gas.
One thing I have always found with Winpack is the HELP section is very
well thought out and written, I wish I could say the same about other
software I have used over the years. Roger thought of most things and
added and ammended as time went by. He wrote it, and put it over in such a
way, that even the thickest should engage and be able to work out the
problem. If you just slam on a copy without reading, Help notes, and
expect it to work first time, then you get what you ask for TROUBLE!
Writing the connect the script for Telnet Winpack is another avenue that
has to be done correctly, if it isn't then don't expect any luck, again
the notes are all there if one cares to look.
Hope that helps?
