Hi Pete, Neil and all,
Pardon me but I spotted an error, Neil asked how to put an icon on the
desktop but Pete said how to pin the app to the task bar. All well and
good but here's the answer to the question.
You do it the same way in all the latter versions of Windows, go to the
program and click on "properties" which will tell you the folder's
location. In Win 7 it's usually in "Programs (x86)" so open the folder
and find the excecutable (.exe) file, then right click on it. That will
open a dialog box, click on "send to" and then "desktop". Close the lot
and you'll see the icon on the desktop.
