Brisbanes Courier Mail is reporting that parents at Westfield shopping
centres could soon be renting wireless tracking devices for their children,
to make it easier to find them in the crowded malls.

The international shopping giant, has already trialled the technology at its
new 17ha London shopping centre and is considering rolling out the scheme
 worldwide.

Mums n Dads type a security number on their mobile phone which is entered on
 to the shopping centre's database.

If they become separated from their child, the parents can call the security
desk which can instantly tell them the location of the tag and the missing
 child.

The device was developed in Legoland in Denmark in 2004 and is used by theme
 parks across Europe.

 Amber Alert Works in VK

Police say the quick return of a child kidnapped on Queensland's Gold Coast
last weekend shows the child abduction alert system called "Amber"is working.

A seven-year-old boy was taken from a house by a 29-year-old woman just after
lunchtime. A short time later police issued an official Amber alert to the
media, detailing the car they were travelling in and a description of the
 woman and boy.

The pair, who are known to each other, were found about three hours later
 in Brisbane's north.

Acting Senior Sergeant Jeff Cootes says a woman listening to her car radio
called police after hearing details on the radio and actually spotting the
 car whilst she was driving!

The boy was not hurt by the woman, who is currently assisting police with
 their investigations
