Hello this is Peter VK4OD putting out a request for assistance from the
 Amateurs in and around Brisbane.

Once again we have been asked to supply communications for the “ Big Country
Horse Endurance Ride ö, which is held in the bush land in and around Spring
Mountain area, just Southwest of Brisbane. This year it is to be run on the
Weekend of 21st and 22nd June.

We are in need of about 10 Operators either Amateurs to work mainly on
146.MHz, or 70cm and or CB operators using some of the simplex UHF CB
 frequencies.

Unfortunately I will be in Greenslopes Private Hospital undergoing some
Major Surgery, so Andrew VK4BO will be the contact point and liaison between
the Club and the Endurance organizers.

As usual most checkpoints only need to be manned for 2 to 3 hours then you can
be moved to another post or elect to go home, PLEASE advise Andrew of your
 hours of availability.

First checkpoint time needs to be onsite about 05:30 and should be clear about
 09:00 +-.

Please contact Andrew by Email at vk4bo@vk4bo.net

With your availability and what equipment you can bring to operate with.

Monday night is not to miss!

 Its Tech Talk night.

Andy VK4KY, will provide detailed information on Antenna Feed Line losses &
the issues with coax and open line feeder.

Peter VK4TGV will detail small space antennas on a small housing block in the
 suburbs.

Andy also announced at last Monday’s night meeting that he will provide the
essentials for a doublet style antenna including 70 metres of wire for the
antenna, 20 metres of 450 ohm open line feeder and a current balun to the value
 of $150.00.

There will be a raffle for the antenna essentials and the proceeds from the
raffle will be for the upgrading of the Redcliffe repeater. Many thanks Andy.

This will be a fantastic night and the club hopes to see its many friends and
other members of the amateur community at the club’s room at MacFarlane Park
in Klingner Rd, Kippa Ring, Redcliffe, starting at 8 pm. Arrive early to get
 the best parking.

Our next general meeting on 3rd June features Phil Grimshaw VK4KVK
talking about his antenna books. This will be a great night and something
we should all try and attend.

The club has recently acquired a 4.5m satellite dish that we will be mounting
at the clubrooms for EME communications. This was retrieved from an ex
Telstra building in conjunction with the building owner and Queensland Police.

Wayne VK4WS gave a presentation on EME communications using satellite dishes at
our last meeting and the club is now quite excited about this project. It was
funny how Wayne insisted on being called Fred and wore sunlasses and a hat that
covered his face when the Police were around, can't work that one out.
