WIA operating a HQ Station in this weekends IARU Contest.
Date : 08 / 07 / 2014
Author : Chris Platt - VK5CP
This weekend the WIA will take part in the 2014 IARU Contest which will
be held between 9.30pm CST Saturday 12 July and 9.30pm Sunday 13 July 2014.
Vice President Chris Platt and members of the Amateur Radio Experimenters
Group will operate VK5WIA from the banks of the Murray River near
Younghusband in South Australia.
As a Headquarters station we will be a multiplier and hope to work a
few pileups!
We will operate SSB stations on the 160/80M band (Full size dipole),
the 40M band (vertical) and the 20/15/10 M bands (Yagi and/or Spiderbeam)
with timing depending on propagation and our capacity to stay awake.
Contest rules can be found by clicking the following Link Its is also
the same weekend as the WRTC competition a nd the ARRL will continue to
operate the Centenary Stations. This is a great introduction to contesting
and a great way to pick up a few new countries and test out your gear.
Give us a call if you hear us!
Christopher Platt
Vice President
