Redcliffe and District Radio Club
Last Monday night’s tech talk was with members of the Caboolture 4x4 club
about the issues related to Mobile radio communications. Over 80 people were
at the club and room was at a premium.
The slide presentations led by Peter, VK4TAA and Andy, VK4KY showed the
meeting some of the issues with mobile communications and provided an outline
the role of citizen band radio frequencies, amateur frequencies and RFDS
communications. Discussion also covered topics including the operation of
repeaters, long range communications and antenna systems to assist mobile
communications.
After a period of questions and answers, all present gathered to share a cup
of tea, coffee and a light supper.
Congratulations to both David, VK4FDRC and QNEWS presentor Ray, VK4VKC who sat
and passed their AOCP exams on the weekend. Both were relieved that all the
study had finally paid off and now both are eagerly awaiting their new
call-signs and exploring the new bands available. Well Done Guys!
The Advanced licence course will commence on the second Saturday and students
have already been sent their course study material.
Also the first Foundation Licence course of the year will commence on the
second Sunday in February with 12 students already nominated to attend.
Both courses will be held at the club rooms and has many family members of
club members undertaking the Foundation course.
It is planned to have Foundation students complete their exams prior to the
John Moyle field Day and this will provide the opportunity the new amateurs
to participate and use their new found skills in the field.
