WIA Takes Amateur Radio To Eurisko

Date : 02 / 11 / 2013

Author : Robert Broomhead - VK3DN

The WIA has an interesting display to showcase Amateur Radio at this weekend's
Eurisko exhibition in Melbourne for makers, crafters and the DIY enthusiasts.
Part of Melbourne Knowledge Week the event is on Saturday the 2nd and
Sunday the 3rd of November at the Arts House Meat Market,
5 Blackwood Street North Melbourne.

The WIA's stand will feature working displays of Amateur Television,
a remote rig station, homebrew equipment design and construction,
plus information on how to become a radio amateur.

Eurisko is the Greek word for 'Make' and the event has been put together
to enable a broad range of DIY enthusiasts to explore various aspects of
learning by doing.

Estimated to attract a thousand people it's designed to inspire others on
things they are passionate about, share knowledge and skills, learn from each
other and provide a platform to support experiential learning and sharing knowledge.

Eurisko is centred on the hosting and creation of community-focused events.
The Eurisko team collaborates with the local community to host a fantastic
and fun combination of activities tailored to suit each community.
Eurisko is open 10am to 4pm Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd of November.
Entrance fee is $10.00

Participation in the Eurisko Melbourne exhibition is in line with a recent
WIA email survey of radio clubs on the broad topic of how best to
promote modern Amateur Radio.
