Here is an initiative aimed at better health that is being promoted Australia
wide.
Called Join in Join Up! it is being promoted in pharmacies around the country
with the backup of a web site ourcommunity.com.au
The 34 page booklet explaining the Join in Join Up! program is free at your
local chemist shop. You can register your local community group on the
web site.
What has this to do with amateur radio? Well community groups are part of the
community and amateur radio fits nicely into the category Science and
Technology, as illustrated on p.25 of the booklet.
Behind this program is a world of research which shows the individual health
benefits of involvement in community groups. Clubs and the like help grow
stronger ties in their local area and the ripple effect spreads from there.
When we list our club on the WIA web site that is the major point of focus for
a person looking for radio amateurs. Here is another way of announcing our
presence to people who are looking but may not have a specific idea that our
hobby, amateur radio is what they are seeking. Put your club details on
ourcommunity.com.au and get to know your pharmacy assistant who is promoting
Join in Join Up!.......let's spread the word!
