2009 WIA Club President's Lunch

This is Don Wilschefski VK4BY, WIA QAC Chairman.

WIA President Michael Owen, and Vice President Ewan Mcleod, will be attending,
and will address the group after lunch. The lunch will be held on Sunday, 15th
November, at the Geebung- Zillmere RSL club. This is the day after the
Gold Coast hamfest.

The Geebung Zillmere RSL club is in Newman Road Geebung, on the north side of
Brisbane. The doors will open at 11:00am, and a set lunch will be served at
12:30pm. Cost for the meal is $15- per person, to be paid at the door.

To reserve your place, please email Don Wilschefski VK4BY at qac@wia.org.au
Special dietary requirements can be catered for.
As in previous years, the intention is for one or two representatives from
each radio club to attend. This is a good opportunity to discuss issues with
the President and Vice President of the WIA.

Numbers will be required by Monday 9th November.

Bunya Mts & Dist AmCom

They are hosting a HAM AND WINE FEST 2010 on January 30th
at Maclagan, which is just west of the Great Dividing Range.

Get along and join in the fun of a hamfest towards the west.

There will be the usual new and preloved gear for sale by various groups and
individuals. Or do you have an excess of home grown fruit and vegs you would
like to have on sale; or perhaps you have a non-radio related pastime you
want to display.

Also if your group would like to do a demonstration of any aspect of our great
hobby, you are most welcome to do so, this could be, Home brew gear,
servicing gear, APRS, DSTAR, slow scan. This list is long, so they are
looking for expressions of interest.

All table bookings will be $10 per table, this includes entry for one person,
others will be allowed in before 9am to assist with the setting up. Bookings
will need to be made by Friday the 15th January 2010, late bookings will be
accepted, but an extra fee will apply.

There are two wineries nearby, and one of these has a B & B Or you can visit
the beautiful Bunya Mts near by; there is camping and picnic grounds available
as well as cabins and houses to rent, if you wanted to stay a night in
comfort.

What a good way to kick off the year, come along and enjoy.

All the proceeds from this event will be used for a badly needed upgrade to
the club's repeater installation up on Mt Kiangarow at the northern end of
the Bunya Mountains.

As mentioned on WIA News previously, the newsgroup,
aarnie@yahoogroups.com
moderated by Adam, VK4IM has increased my access to AR news and projects
considerably.

Not only does "Amateur Radio" magazine arrive in the letter box but I now get
to read e-mags such as "World Radio Online" and "Ham Mag", both in PDF and
full colour, for free.

As well many clubs are posting their newsletters on AARNIE and this goes to
support the efforts of the WIA broadcast team in keeping members of the hobby
informed.

Check out aarnie@yahoogroups.com and tell em QNEWS sent you!
