Forecast Discussion
Low pressure will move northeast today along the St Lawrence River Valley. Summits will remain in the warm sector of this low u
ntil tonight when a trailing cold
front passes plummeting temperatures into tomorrow. Convective showers will pass the summit to
day followed by frontal showers tonight and upslope showers tomorrow morning. Showers will be in the form of rain today turning
to snow overnight. Building high
pressure tomorrow will start to clear things out by tomorrow afternoon. As the low departs, it
will deepen as the high pressure butts up against it tonight into tomorrow. This will generate high winds through the forecast
period. Currently, the models ar
e generating a low similar to what was seen a few weeks back although not quite as strong. Wind
s with this set up commonly will reach into the low to mid 130s mph. Winds will also be sustained over 100 mph for a fair porti
on of the night into tomorrow. If
any snow does fall overnight into tomorrow, expect blowing snow to lower visibility even furth
er as it is whipped up. With high winds and lowering temperatures expected, a wind chill advisory will go into effect this even
ing through tomorrow. Wind chills
will be 20-30 above today but will start falling this afternoon to 10-20 above then fall drama
tically to 20-30 below by sunrise and even further to 30-40 below for most of tomorrow.
