Forecast Discussion
High pressure will crest over the state today providing mostly clear skies and low winds. This afternoon, clouds will be increasing and lowering though as the high slides east and low pressure begins to approach. A weak low to our north centered over Hudson Bay will drop a weak cold front across the state this evening bringing lowering clouds heights as well as a chance of snow showers as temperatures dip a bit. Towards morning though, a stronger warm front will approach from the southwest. This front will continue snow in the morning but as warmer air continues to move up during the day, snow will mix with sleet and freezing rain as the freezing mark is approached in the afternoon. Winds today will be low as the high crests overhead but as the high departs and the low approaches, winds will once again increase overnight into tomorrow into a moderate range for the higher summits. Winds will go from a northerly direction to a southerly direction as the high approaches then departs. Wind chills over the period will be 0-10 below this morning rising to 0-10 above in the afternoon then dipping to 5-15 below overnight and rising once again to 0-10 above by tomorrow afternoon.
