Forecast Discussion
High pressure ridging has begun across the area, after the intense storm pulled away into the Canadian Maritimes. Even though snow stopped early in the day, the summit remained engulfed by clouds. The resulting pressure gradient caused winds to sustain at over 100 mph for part of the day. A weak surface and upper level trough will cross the region today, keeping the summits in the clouds for most of the day. As high pressure continues to build, winds will diminish, clouds will lift from the summits, and skies above will clear. Wind chill values will hover near the advisory criteria this morning, and improve as temperatures warm. Winds will pick up towards evening as a result of the high pressure center sliding into the sea just of the Jersey Shore. Zonal upper level flow will cause the high and this new approaching low, to pass well to our south. Tomorrow, clouds and temperatures will be on the increase as weak low pressure passes well to our south tomorrow morning. A clipper system will be approaching, aiding in the increase of clouds for tomorrow as well.
