Forecast Discussion

High pressure will continue to build into the region and provide a mostly sunny day on the higher summits. Temperatures will be a bit warmer than yesterday but winds will be stronger meaning colder wind chills. Low clouds have been forming just below the summit during the overnight and may spread out to provide another day w/ partial undercast conditions. Some of these clouds may engulf the summit intermittently this morning. Forecast soundings are showing the reinforcement of the subsidence inversion similar to yesterday. With moist air trapped below this inversion we may have another day where conditions mimic those of yesterday. The high pressure ridge will move south and flatten out a bit tomorrow night as a weak and moisture starved cold front pushes through the region early Monday. The front will pretty much dissolve on its way through. The main impact of the front will only be a few clouds and an increase in wind speed. There is not too much cold air behind the front so the main impact will be to offset daytime heating and hold temperatures rather steady with slight warming though the day. Late Monday clouds will be on the increase ahead of a low pressure system approaching from the west.
