Forecast Discussion
High pressure will continue to slide east and out to sea this morning. At the same time, an intensifying area of low pressure will be moving up the eastern seaboard and a warm front will approach from the south. Warm air will overrun the cold air in place at the surface and snow will begin to develop later today. Initially, the air will be very dry at upper levels and areas of virga will begin to moisten the atmosphere from the top down. The storm will pass well to our south and east so only minor accumulations are expected at this time. The warm front looks to pivot around us and not actually fully pass through the region. This means that temperatures will remain fairly constant through the overnight hours. The snow that does fall looks to be fairly light in density so even though winds are going to be light, areas of blowing and drifting snow may limit visibility at times. The low will pull away into the Canadian Maritimes tomorrow but there exists a slight chance of morning snow showers. High pressure will then begin to take control once again and a clearing trend looks to be headed our way for the latter part of the weekend.
