Forecast Discussion

High pressure will build today before cresting this evening and sliding east. This will dry things out and provide mostly clear conditions on and above the summits with gradual clearing below the summit as the drier air works in and winds begin to dampen a bit. Temperatures will bottom out this morning before making a gradual increase over the next 36 hours. Overnight into tomorrow, a weak frontal boundary will work through increasing clouds above and returning fog for a bit. With such dry air in place though, this weak disturbance will be hard pressed to provide any showers, therefore have left them out for the time being. After the boundary lifts through tomorrow morning, high pressure from the south will begin to build in continuing with additional warmer air. Until then though, the low temperatures and high winds will require a Wind chill warning this morning until around noon as wind chills drop below 50 below 0. Then around noon, a wind chill advisory will go into place into tomorrow afternoon as wind chills remain 35-50 below. It should also be noted, the new snow mixed with the high winds is making for plenty of blowing snow on the summits, especially above tree line with drifting reaching as high as four-story building at times.
