Hello Bob.
At one time I swapped msgs with a VK6 in Brisbane. During the UK winter of
the first year, his msgs ran like:
G'Day Ian...I am sitting inside with the curtains drawn because it is just
too hot in the yard. I am on a deckchair near the fridge so I can go and
get a nice cold tinny while I type to you."
In response, I took a picture while out walkong my dogs, of the kind of
snow which comes down in big, fat flakes, the sort that really show up on
a photograph, and sent it to him with a line on the back; "You rotten
B****** ! "
I had to post it because I didn't have fast internet at the time.
The temp here at the moment is +5 deg C, the warmest it has been for three
weeks and is forecast as high as + 7 deg tommorrow and for the next few
days, the snow and ice are starting to melt. I think we will probably go
back to CA -2 deg to -7 deg as we go into January.
I'm not sure just how cold Pete gets in Canada, though I do know that they
get regular, vicious WX every year in E.Canada as they don't have a Gulf
Stream to warm them up like us, so he is probably far colder than we are.
I don't know what happened to Denis the VK6??. He did send me a picture
and
he was only about my age so he probably just got bored not SK.
I will try to remember to send a nice, sunny pic around June 21st just to
get my own back. FYI the temp in my QTH is about 71 deg F due to the
central heating and double glazing but it's at the cost of what feels like
burning money.
Ah well. Maybe next year it will be back to the normal Christmas rain and
we might even have a summer in between. In the meantime, enjoy your
summer.
I don't know the temps for WA so I hope 21C (71F) is normal for you.
