Forecast Discussion
High pressure will be building in at the surface as an upper level disturbance passes well to our north today. This will bring a slight chance of snow showers in the afternoon and evening as the southern edge of this disturbance brushes the northern part
of NH and will be added by upslope flow. But the main forecast problem is low level clouds causing fog on the summits. According to model soundings from Berlin, NH, the inversion extends to just above the summits this morning with dry air just above. Ther
e is a chance the inversion may mix down a bit and drop clouds below the summit briefly this morning before moving back into the fog as the northern disturbance moves through. But given the way models handled the overnight hours, tend to trend the summits
to remain mostly in the fog today with maybe some brief breaks overhead as they did yesterday evening especially given how thick the fog is this morning. Overnight as the disturbance passes, this will finally mix things up and drier air will begin to wor
k down drying out the fog and clearing skies above. Some lower clouds may linger into the morning hours though before burning off during the day tomorrow. Tomorrow will start clear as high pressure crests in before sliding east in the afternoon. Clouds ab
ove will be back on the increase though as a complex of lows moves in from the west that is expected to bring unsettled weather starting in the overnight hours and continuing through Wednesday.
