Forecast Discussion

An area of low pressure will develop off the coast of Cape Cod and move northeast, which will bring another round of precipitation tonight. Early today, fog will remain in place and temperatures will hover in the mid 30s as yesterdayâ€âä¢s system departs and the flow remains southerly. In the meantime, a broad area of low pressure north of the Great Lakes will transfer its energy to a developing system off the coast of Cape Cod. This low will ride up the New England coastline tonight and make its way into Maine, which will cause rain to resume atop the summits. However, as the flow shifts towards the northwest and cold air rushes in behind the system, rain will quickly mix with and changeover to snow. The shifting winds will pick up in intensity, with gusts easily surpassing hurricane force during the early morning hours of tomorrow. Snow will taper off quickly early tomorrow afternoon as the low races off the north, but colder and windy conditions will remain for the balance of the day.
