Forecast Discussion

A weak ridge of high pressure will quickly crest over the summits this afternoon, which will allow winds to subside and skies to clear out today. Temperatures will continue their slow descent early today as a weak cold front passes through. The high will build in behind the front this afternoon, which will cause temperatures to level off and then moderate during the latter part of the day. The summits will remain free of fog through the evening hours as the flow remains dry out of the northwest. However, winds will begin to shift towards the southwest out ahead of another low pressure system, which will bring mixed precipitation to the summits tonight. As the system nears tomorrow morning, it will drag another cold front through, causing winds to pick up again and shift back towards the northwest. Temperatures will respond to the frontal passage with a recession to more normal levels. As the front quickly clears the summits, fog will lift and overhead clouds will thin late tomorrow afternoon.
