VHF DX from Albany has been very poor this season so far with very little
worked. I logged 15 contacts, some of them being for more than one contact
with the same station. Of those 7 were on 144.1 tropo and the rest on
sporadic E 50.1.

Beacons have been heard almost daily with Barossa Valley VK5RBV leading
the way being audible practically every day, including today (Sunday 17th
Jan) but no amateur SSB except for one contact. VK8RAS has been heard on a
number of occasions and one VK3 beacon on one oaccsion.

This has been the poorest DX season I can remember in 55 years of working
6.

Maybe there could still be a good opening but at this late stage that does
not seem likely.

I understand the other states have fared somewhat better than we have here
in the south.

As far as I know there are only three operators operating 6 in Albany with
Wally VK6WG and I the only regulars. I have heard VK6HD calling CQ but he
only works CW and had no takers. I heard VK6LD working a staton on 144.1
SSB once and I understand some DX was worked on the 146.725 repeater but
that was an isolated incident..

Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.
