Do you have the font MS Sans Serif installed on your computer?

Keith,

Would you elaborate more on the MS Sans Serif font? What effect does
it have on UI-View32 with or without having it installed?

I've never encountered this problem myself.

Thanks,
Ed, KF4CHG

Another possibility is that the registry has become corrupt in
regards to fonts. Couple of possible fixes.

One is to get a copy of C/C Cleaner, which is a free PC cleanup
tool. One of the things it does is to clean out crap from the
registry. It's possible that some other program, at one time, has
screwed up a font pointer and C/C might find it and fix it.

Another possibility is TweakUI. This is a Microsoft tool set which,
among other things, includes a font folder repair tool.

I searched the archives for "error 380 invalid Property value at marker
27" and found references to the problem being related to the system that
UI-View was installed on not having that font. Did W0HKR reply? I
couldn't find a response.

I just checked my uiview32.ini and found in the [SETUP] section...

LABEL_FONTNAME=MS Sans Serif

It would be strange if this font were missing -- it's been "factory
standard" in Windows since the 16-bit Windows 3.1 introduced scalable
TrueType fonts around 1992.

I suppose some buggy program UNinstaller could have deleted it, or
perhaps someone went on a system cleaning "rampage" with a buggy utility
that falsely removed it.

It won't do you much good. The TNC must be in KISS mode (unless you are
using AGWPE or BPQ mode) for the UI-View digi to be operational. If you
use the CMD file from the files area on the Yahoo support group, the TNC
would not be in KISS mode... or did you mean for the D710 to be the digi
while also using it with UI-View?

Digipeater operation requires direct access to the incoming raw packets,
since they need to be disassembled, modified (i.e. WIDEn-N values
changed) and then re-assembled for retransmission. The only way UIview
can have full and unfettered access to raw packets is if the TNC
(either the one inside the D710 or an external one) is being accessed in
KISS mode.

[KISS mode bypasses the TNC's internal firmware and makes the TNC act
essentially as a dumb modem under complete control of the computer program.]

If you want UI-View to be the digi, then you would need the TNC to be in
KISS mode. UI-View doesn't use the CMD files when KISS mode is used.

Don't forget... operators of UI-View based digis in North America should
edit the [DIGI_OPTIONS] section of uiview32.ini to bring it up-to-date.

UIFLOOD=SS <<< use the 2 letter abbreviation for your state
UITRACE=WIDE

Of course, if it is to be a fill-in digi, you could just add an alias of
WIDE1-1 instead.
