Hi Rodge and all,
A bit off topic but what the heck. Having no need for APRS I was only
aware of the existance of UI-View and not it's functionality. Thanks for
the info, quite an education there. I can see the communications limit
and the reason behind the inability of communicating with ocean going
vessels, to do that the communications officer would need an Amateur
license and the appropriate equipment. I spoke with perhaps the last one
about 8 years ago and he has since retired from service. Ships have their
own "APRS" and can be tracked here;
