Hi, Michael

In answer to your questions,

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) This situation only recently surfaced. The installation had been working
well for months until the problem occurred.
4) The installation on the laptop was done well after the desktop
installation at home, and new registration numbers were secured for the
laptop installation.

I may take your suggestion and uninstall and reinstall everything, but if
possible I'd like to find a solution to this by other means. I've been
running UI-View for years, so I am familiar with its intricacies. It's
almost as if the program can't find the registration number after it is
installed. If I was running Vista, I'd understand - but I have XP...

Thanks for the suggestions.

If you are using the same registration number for both the home computer
and your laptop, it may be that one of the two programs is not accepting
the home computers registration number on the laptop. I do not begin to
understand how the registration number is arrived at by Chicago Mapping
/ Undertow; but I do know they seem to be machine specific.

Do you have separate registration numbers for each computer?

Do you have a separate registration number for Pmap 6.0 and for
PmapServer6 for each computer?

If you do have the correct registration numbers, it may be your
installation has not gone correctly. I would uninstall the programs and
then reinstall everything, being certain you follow precisely the order
of installation in the directions. The order and the requirement for
rebooting between individual installs must be done correctly. There is
not room for freelancing the install with this combination of software.
It is not plug and play, it requires user awareness to complete
successfully.

Jeffrey,

Just use any of the 14580 filtered ports, I use central or indiana or midwest. Then in your Extra log-in text field put
in a filter to get the stations from the area that you want.

UI-View32 is a 32 bit Windows based program. If you can run Windows
programs on the Apple...

I understand that Apple's Leopard operating system is a GUI running on
Linux (or was it Unix?). I vaguely remember someone saying they could
run UI-View in WINE. Could someone confirm that for John?

Andy:

That did it! Everything seems to be working well. I modified the
template file and built a temporary page until I get my sensors
properly mounted. One strange thing I am seeing is a wind gust
reading despite little or no movement of the wind sensor. Is this a
value collected by the weather station or is it interpolated by
UI-Weather?

Thanks again for your help!

It's indoor humidity when used with WS2300

Note: The wind gust is calculated for the wx.txt file

BTW: Nice web page

5. Comms Setup

I know i can change to different TNC types by adding/changing the
different CMD files in the UI-View folder...

But if i select "host mode KISS" and enter the setup i get five
different systems:

TNC2
PK
D700
Kan
TF

Is it possible to add a extra button with D710 ?
If so where to i change this?

In the uiview32.ini i can find some TNC settings for KISS mode but
this is based on the button i press.

Anyhow changing the default values from D700 from ^C^MAI 1^MTC 1^MTNC
2^MTC 0^M^M^M^M to ^C^MTC 1^MTN 2,0^M is going to set the TM-D710 in
TNC mode without setting the radio in TNC mode first.

---Moderator's comment:---
The source code for UI-View was destroyed, according to
the wish of the author G4IDE before he died in 2004. So it will probably not be possible (and it would be against G4IDE's wish) to port it to another operating system.

Please see <http://www.apritch.myby.co.uk/uiv32.htm> for UI-View registration information.
Precision Mapping version 8 works with UI-View32; the necessary additional PMapServer7 is available for download at <http://www.ui-view.org>.
At <http://wa8lmf.net/aprs/UIview_Notes.htm>, you will find useful hints and info for your UI-View setup and use.
