Hi Tim
It requires all the data before it creates the wx.txt file

Thanks Andy...I'll give that a try as soon as the holiday activities
subside. I see what you mean after looking at the HeavyWeather file.
I see that it defaults to "dashes" for the wind sensor if it isn't
plugged in.
Thanks again,
Tim

1c. UI-VIEW32 Question
Posted by: "Jeffrey" n9mxtham@yahoo.com n9mxtham

Hello,
I am just wondering about UI-VIEW32 because I used to run the software and worked wonderful with all the features. Then all of a sudden my HD crashed and had to reinstall everything again. I re-downloaded UI-VIEW32 and now its only a DEMO or must be $$ for it to funcation. Is this the case now? If so is their anything else I can run to for my APRS functions?

Jerrrey,
You should be able to go to <http://www.apritch.myby.co.uk/uiv32.htm> and re-register to get your registration code back.

2a. Stations not showing

I guess I should have used a different subject line in my first post.
Right now I have UI-View connected via an internet connection, however
that is not the way I would like it. The program keys the radio and the
radio and TNC are receiving stations however there are none showing on
the UI-View map via RF.
Any thoughts
Thanks and Merry Christmas

Check under options and make sure that 'Show symbols on map' is checked.

As John K9IJ mentioned, make sure "show symbols" isn't disabled.
You can toggle it with control-F5. If that isn't it, take a look at the
"exclude/include" list to make sure you don't have something there
that would hide stations.
Re the TCPIP connection... if the APRS server is sending position
reports to you, they will show up on the map as well as stations heard
on RF. I can see that W2DLO-8 was connected to FIRST 8 days 19 hours
ago, but W2DLO is on RF only right now with a responsible one hop path
of WIDE2-1. It was connected to APRSFL as recently as recently as 54
minutes ago.

Keith,
Neither suggestion that you or John mentioned worked. I've gone through again and checked ever setting. I turned off the exclusions. However, if I did read your response correctly, you stated that I was showing RF? I'm using a different soundcard than the original and was almost thinking of placing that into the current computer, but that doesn't seem like that should be the problem.
Thanks for the suggestions.

3. New program : APRS Beacon Editor (not only for UIView)
Posted by: "Chris" pa7rhm@amsat.org pa7rhm
Date: Tue Dec 25, 2007 12:04 am ((PST))
Hi you all,
first of all my best wishes to everyone in the group and have a nice
Chrismas.
I created another APRS program that helps you to construct your APRS
beacon comment. As you may know this beacon comment can hold elements
like PHG and Altitude data. With the new TM-D710 and it's "Tune"
(Tune to Operating Frequency aka QSY frequency) there is another
element that can be added to your beacon comment.
When you actually start using these elements you will find yourself
looking in the APRS specs a lot to avoid mistakes.
(other APRS clients may have an easy setup for altitude and PHG)
So this program named the "APRS beacon editor" will help you define a
correct and meaningfull beacon comment.
Please note that the Operating Frequency part is still under
development at Kenwood so this may change, but I think APRS users
should be encouraged to use the feature.
please download this program from my website at

Please see <http://www.apritch.myby.co.uk/uiv32.htm> for UI-View registration information.
Precision Mapping version 8 works with UI-View32; the necessary additional PMapServer7 is available for download at <http://www.ui-view.org>.
At <http://wa8lmf.net/aprs/UIview_Notes.htm>, you will find useful hints and info for your UI-View setup and use.
