gervais ve2ckn asked:
which version is working with ui-view and a baycom modem on XP?
i am running agwpe with my 98 se but i heard that with XP this is an
other version,,,,
is it true??
------------
You are right -- the regular AGWPE version on an XP computer will not be
able to use the Baycom
The AGWPE *Pro* version (cost $49 US) does support BayCom/BayPac modems,
*BUT* only if your computer has legacy serial ports, i.e. non-ACPI
compliant serial ports. ( ACPI is a power management/saving protocol.)
I can't tell you if you have such ports. An older computer may have them; a
newer computer will probably NOT have them. You can try AGWPE Pro for free
for 30 days if you want to experiment.
An alternative is to use AGWPE's *sound card modem feature* and do away with
the Baycom. Your only cost then would be the cost of a radio-to-soundcard
interface. You can either buy or build such an interface, and it may also be
used for other digital sound card modes, such as PSK or SSTV, on the same
radio.

well Ralph thanks for your reply
i have been thinking of using a soundcard for a while,
those interface, tnc and baycom are expensive sometime, and since we have a soundcard in our pc and we are not using them so why not use it on packet !!!!!.
i have here many Ge Phoenix that i could used ,anyone have connected such radio on a soundcard???? it would help me with the pinnout of the cable .
i may download agwpe and try it as soon as i will have made my cable
